Every Body Get Outside! was born in March 2026 when two friends joined together to offer bird outings in Metro Detroit.
We find immense joy in birds and want that joy to be accessible to as many people as possible. We aim to design outings that reduce or eliminate as many access barriers as we can for folks to be able to enjoy birds.
We endeavor to make our descriptions clear and sufficiently detailed to allow people to determine whether any given outing is a good fit. If you don’t see information that you need or would find helpful, please do not hesitate to reach out. We will do our best to address any access barriers we can.
We believe that birding is for everybody, whatever body you have. We appreciate and are delighted by the diversity of life on this planet and intend to cultivate an environment in which humans from diverse backgrounds feel safe and welcome to be themselves in the outdoors.
We both have a special fondness for new birders and strive to create a welcoming environment to ask questions and learn together.
The main rule for birding with us is: Don’t be a jerk. Not to the birds, not to the environment, and not to one another.
We also follow the American Bird Association’s Code of Birding Ethics.
Birding should be fun and help build a better future for birds, for birders, and for all people.
Birds and birding opportunities are shared resources that should be open and accessible to all.
Birders should always give back more than they take.
When we are out together, we will practice and promote respectful, enjoyable, and thoughtful birding by:
- Respecting and promoting birds and their environment.
- Respecting and promoting the birding community and its individual members.
- Respecting and promoting the law and the rights of others.

Ren is a disabled, queer, neurodivergent birder and lifelong Michigander who has been a nature lover since they can remember and has been obsessed with birds since middle school. They can’t help but spread the bird joy everywhere they go and nothing makes them happier than seeing the spark in a new birder’s eye when they see a lifer. Ren is currently a Master’s student studying birds at the University of Michigan-Flint and has been a professional birding guide for over six years.
